Some of the Treatment Methods We Use

Below is a short description of several treatment options we have at our disposal at Gray Chiropractic. If you have any other questions about these techniques or procedures, please feel free to send us a message on our Contact page.
Chiropractic Adjustment
Chiropractic Adjustment - The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. More information can be found on our "What is Chiropractic?" page.
Acupuncture - A good description of acupuncture can be found on our "What is Acupuncture?" page. We use a variety of acupuncture stimulation methods including microcurrent electrotherapy, pressure point therapy, laser stimulation, and traditional needles.
Nutritional Counseling/Designed Clinical Nutrition - Besides simple advice regarding proper nutrition, vitamins, minerals, which ones are good or bad, food choices, etc., we also offer a complete program known as Designed Clinical Nutrition. This, in conjunction with computerized algorithms, allows us to design a comprehensive set of dietary recommendations specifically for you. A good description is located on our "What is Designed Clinical Nutrition?" page.
Short-Wave Diathermy
Short-Wave Diathermy - Diathermy is used for speeding up the healing process by using very deep heat. Diathermy units use short-wave electro-magnetic energy to heat tissues deep below the surface of the skin. Unlike home heating pads, Diathermy penetrates the skin to get the heat where it is most useful. Our patients describe diathermy as a warm sensation when used without ice.
Infrasound - The Infratonic is a low frequency, electro-acoustical therapeutic device designed for effective treatment of pain and accelerated recovery. It works by increasing the local circulation of blood, lymph and the activity of the nervous system. The Infratonic activates local tissue, moving old fluids out of painful areas and drawing in fresh, oxygenated fluids to enhance the healing process, reduce swelling and relax armored muscles.
Interferential Electrotherapy
Interferential Electrotherapy/Electric Muscle Stimulation - Interferential Electrotherapy is a unique way of effectively delivering therapeutic energy to tissue. It utilizes two medium-frequency electrical currents and is set up so that their paths cross, thus penetrating the tissues simultaneously. Interferential Electrotherapy is safe and not painful. The patient is only likely to feel some vibrating sensation or a gentle tingling.
Intersegmental Traction
Intersegmental Traction - The intersegmental traction table carefully elongates postural muscles and gently and effectively reestablishes normal range of motion in a comfortable, even manner while allowing healthy joint motion, circulation and mobility to return. The result is relaxed muscles and reduced spasms.
Axial Traction
Axial Traction - Axial Traction is a safe and comfortable form of treatment. You lie on a supportive table and allow it to gently open and close the vertebral spaces. Traction of the spine is one of the oldest forms of therapeutic pain relief known.
